Francis Spufford in conversation with Prof. Rebecca Fitzgerald —  A Life in Words

A writer of non-fiction and teacher of Creative Writing, his first novel Golden Hill, set in 18C New York, won the Costa First Novel Award 2016 and many other prizes.  Other novels have followed.  In 2002 he wrote a memoir The Child That Books Built about growing up overshadowed by tragedy, and ten years later Unapologetic, a defence of Christianity in response to the New Atheism.  He has also written an as-yet unpublished sequel to the Chronicles of Narnia.
