The whole parish of Harston is the designated Neighbourhood Plan area, confirmed by South Cambs. on 20th June 2022. This is because it includes the built up area within the village envelope/framework (through which runs the A10) but also those outlying buildings/areas more linked to the Green Belt agricultural parts of the parish that make up its overall rural character.
The parish stretches in less than 2 miles from Hoffers Brook in the south nearly to the M11 and Hauxton in the north. It is bounded by the River Cam to the west and has more agricultural land to the east between Hauxton, Newton and Little Shelford where the M11 forms part of the boundary. There are currently about 757 houses in the village with estimated 2020 population of 1,873.
