Traffic and transport

EWR

No new information to report from EWR, or date for the statutory consultation.

EWR has done a traffic census around the Green and between Church Street and Station Road, and there are also believed to have been surveys of the Drift and the footpath to Barrington. An FOI request has been made for information on the results of these surveys, but nothing has yet been received .

There has been a new volunteer for the EWR working group which will be meeting again shortly. Expertise is needed for the production of publicity including video – please email harstonresidents@gmail.com if you could help

Buses

A2B are maintaining a bus route through Harston, though their communication is poor, and they are difficult to contact. The timetables posted in Harston bus stops do not include the Harston stops.

Action. BW to try (again) to contact A2B

Action. DB has asked Maria King for assistance to sort this out. And to find out who is responsible for the route timetables.

Overgrown hedgerows

These continue to be a concern, particularly on Church Street where the Jesus College field meets the road.

Neighbourhood Plan

Work is underway to analyse responses to the survey from residents and from official bodies that are required to be consulted.

It was established that a few residents had difficulty completing the survey online, because only one response could be made on one computer. There was no problem when another device was used, or the survey was completed online.

Community activities

School gardening.

Charlotte Clarke has offered to take the lead on this in liaison with the school, and four supporters of Greener Harston have offered to help out as needed. Charlotte has met with the Head, and the first objective will be to clear out the raised beds in front of the school with help from the PTFA and other volunteers: a date for this is to be fixed.

Anyone interested in supporting this initiative please email harstonresidents@gmail.com

Litter pick 22nd Sept 2-4pm.

We discussed the risk assessment for this. We are grateful that scouts and cubs have publicised and supported this initiative, but it is not an official scouting activity and participants have generally come with their families. We agreed that a statement in the risk assessment should say ‘Children are to be supervised by an accompanying adult’.
