Beki Korb sent her apologies and gave notice that she will no longer be part of HRG. A big Thank You to Beki for everything she has done as a member of HRG, especially her advice and active support for the Greener Harston Group. We will miss Beki’s expertise, energy and enthusiasm and we send her our best wishes.
Matters arising from Minutes of last meeting.
Maria King is in contact with Anglian Water regarding flooding at Button End. IR reported no new information. Different agencies are involved.
Action. IR to send a paper about flooding to JN for inclusion in the Minutes.
HR contacted Anglian Water about flooding. No budget for work now but it will be done in the future.
HR heard about raised water table in Fowlmere causing flooding and sewage issues. Is it related to closure of Barrington cement works? Are other nearby villages affected?
Traffic and transport
EWR
TG asked which roads EWR intends to use for access and construction sites.
Are the 2 proposed new roads along Newton Hill and at the end of London Road to be used for construction traffic? No information from EWR yet.
The map of the proposed EWR route shows trees where construction will be high up on embankments. Different areas marked on the maps were discussed, including the purple site construction areas, the new roads and changes to existing ones.
BW speculated that Harston will be one of the worst affected villages by the EWR line because of the proximity of the current proposed route around the village.
EWR commissioned a survey of the Harston-Barrington footpath on R Pearce Gould’s land. It’s flooded for 2-3 months in the winter. The footpath is important for links with other paths. The survey was scheduled for 17/18th May but no evidence of activity at that time.
DB emailed to say the EWR Working Group will be reinstated. This will include people from HRG and HPC.
HRG will keep track of EWR’s new developments.
Traffic safety on Church Street. Kerry Allen advised that the suggestions for traffic calming should go into the Neighbourhood Plan.
Community news and events.
FP will add events to the Harston Residents website as he receives them.
Action. Ask CA to continue keeping the Greener Harston section up to date.

Greener Harston
We’ll be sad to see Beki go. Many thanks to her for her commitment to the greener Harston projects around the village.
HRG wants to do more on greener initiatives.
More volunteers needed. If you would like to join in the activities, information about Greener Harston is on the HRG website harstonvillage.uk
Litter pick
It was well supported and very successful. A big thank you to the volunteers who helped organise it, made cakes and took part.
Potholes in Harston
They are a particular problem on Church Street and along the A10.
Potholes are not repaired to an adequate standard and have to be repaired repeatedly, which is costly.
