Minutes of HRG admin group meeting 3 March 7.30-9pm

Attending: CCS, HR, CA, BW, IR

Apologies: JN

  1. Now Neighbourhood Plan been adopted HRG will continue to look at progress on NP implementation and help where they feel relevant such as:
  2. Work on creating the Button End Nature Reserve which has already started with several litter picking and footpath clearance days 1st & 8th March. Approx 50 bags of litter filled on 1st collected by S Cambs. NB PC say their insurance paid for HRG activities will not cover this as not on PC land. Problem has also occurred as one company appear to have outgrown their unit, are storing supplies on their parking area and have recently encroached on Nature reserve area by cutting down numerous trees and enclosing it with a fence. S Cambs and PC have yet to respond helpfully to this issue.
  3. HRG The Footpath landuse survey –  looking at what the residents want to inform future action as PC do not appear to have carried out any public consultation on use of Footpath land not covered by NP as not an issue then.. Details of survey will be sent/available separately.
  • HRG will now largely respond to issues as they affect the village and will have adhoc meetings as and when needed. Not meetings monthly just for the sake of them. HRG will continue to try to keep residents informed about what is going on in the village and what they can be involved in.
  1. Anyone wishing to contact the Group, including PC, about anything/any issue can contact via: Harstonresidents@gmail.com . These messages will be passed on by CA to whoever may be responding to that issue, and may suggest passing on info/request to PC. IR is liaison with PC as she is a parish councillor.
  2. Recent issue raised by a resident is problem of grass verges being damaged by vehicles parking on them by A10, sometimes blocking cycleway too, and also grass verge by Harston House recently destroyed aby vehicles. Group were unanimous in wanting to retain grass verges, rather than concrete over as suggested, and feel Melbourn cycleway should be asked if they can put a few more small white posts up in verges to deter people from parking there.
  • CCS will send out newsletter once she has received info from others in Admin Group as and when needed, roughly every month or two. Newsletter has been well read and keep people regularly informed. It goes out to about 350 people (check).
  • We feel it is invaluable to keep the HRG website which CA tries to update regularly. PC has paid maintenance costs for two years – approx 1.5 years to go. We need to look for sources of income to pay for future maintence of the website. People can sign up for the newsletters on the website. Adding on events to website needs to be via Fabio at moment.
  • Minutes go out to regular users/attendees of meetings ie past ‘Zoom’ invites, and needs updating. CA to add an ‘unsubscribe’ mention in next newsletter. Just thought – Could also add a link to minutes on website.
  • More could be put on Facebook- BW thinks it is important to advertise the next EWR meeting at Hauxton on 14 March and wondered if it could go in the next newsletter. BW is very concerned about the lack of information made available to people about the latest EWR proposals.
  • HR has summary of Footpath survey that could go in the newsletter, too.
